Brief Content

Looking for a practical guide to better deal with your fears? Consider yourself lucky, because this is the one you should have!

Jennifer Shannon, the author, clearly explains how you can ensure that fear no longer holds you back. She does this by giving you insight into what sustains your fears and how you can change this yourself. To this end, she describes a number of strategies that give you back control over your thoughts and feelings.

For example, she points out that it is important to distinguish between yourself and your fear by consciously taking time to reflect on your reactions and by looking your fears straight in the eye and living through them – so that your original reaction will be extinguished.

Another strategy she explains is to turn your negative and limiting beliefs into positive, helping thoughts.

A very useful tip is to do 5 minutes of self-care every day, before reacting to anything you think needs to be done. It’s about getting back in touch with your own needs and values so that you are able to respond from awareness instead of automatically reacting with your monkey mind.

In the book there are nice illustrations that make it an attractive experience to go through. A surplus is that there are online exercises available that you can download for free.

In short, this publication is an eye-opener for those who want to get more out of life and confront their fears. In essence, life is a continuous lesson in growing towards more awareness.

Book Rating

I really liked this book. It gave me more insight in my ‘monkey-mind’ reactions and helped me to break through (previously unconscious) stress patterns. I feel less anxious and able to cope better with whatever comes my way.

Worth 5 stars, I can definitely recommend it!
